A hands-on, fun approach to exploring painting, drawing and creative visual art principles, the Kickstart course is useful for artists who are curious to explore painting, resuming after a break, or more experienced artists or designers seeking new creative inspirations. Six short individual stand-alone courses covering different topics and techniques are offered through the year, corresponding to school half terms.
Each course varies in content, including exercises in painting, drawing and creativity, aiming to build your practical skills and unlock your artistic ideas, as groundwork preparation over time for your more advanced artistic projects. Media used includes acrylic paint and mixed media. The exercises are designed to provide you with a rich pool of ideas, methods and processes to enable you to approach creating art in different ways, with confidence.
Previous painting or drawing experience can be useful but is not essential. All you need to bring is an interest in art and a keenness to explore and experiment. Use of boards, paper and paints are provided as well as basic materials for all exercises. Advice on any further useful materials you may choose to purchase will be available.
