Learn to pay closer attention to nature and the world around you as your first step in developing your painting skills. Learn the hidden language of contemporary painting with your observation of natural elements as creative starting points. Gain confidence in using colour. Subjects may focus on landscape, still life and figure subjects. Six short courses are offered through the year, corresponding to school half terms.
Build your practical skills and discover and realise your creative ideas. Media used may range from acrylic paint, mixed media and/or watercolour. The exercises are designed to provide you with a rich visual experience of painting with your individual creativity, underpinned by observation. You'll learn methods and processes to enable you to become confident in creating art in different ways.
Previous painting or drawing experience is not essential. All you need to bring is an interest in art and a keenness to explore painting and experiment. Use of boards, paper and paints are provided as well as basic materials for all exercises. We don't sell materials but Stella can advise on any further materials you may wish to purchase.
