Abstract Lab Workshop, Sat 12 Mar, 10am - 1pm. £35 (materials not included, bring water-based paints or drawing materials you already have at home.)
These are experiential sessions where you'll learn new painting skills and techniques, or expand your existing experience. You'll explore a range of practical abstract painting topics, methods and materials, referring to some art historical examples of abstract art thinking and aims as well as methods of paint application. You'll learn different ways to assemble materials on paper or canvas, plan a composition or work spontaneously to apply paint & collage. A different topic will be explored in each workshop and you'll also be encouraged and supported to develop your own unique visual ideas. You'll learn through seeing printed examples, watching technical demonstrations, participating in hands-on exercises, group discussions and one-to-one tutor feedback. No previous abstract painting knowledge or experience is necessary, just an open mind and willingness to try new ways to make your art. Materials are not provided for these workshops, a suggested materials list is supplied but basically, bring any drawing or water-based painting materials you already have. Anything else can be collected or purchased by you at low cost locally or from the internet, in advance of workshops. You can use Painting Zone boards and purchase sheets of cartridge paper at the class. If you'd like to attend a workshop, please book using the online facility below. A choice of payment methods is available.
